I like to use this topic to gather some info regarding test/tuning data for my street/test Motom.
Instead off writing everything in my build topic, perhaps it's wiser to keep the measuring ideas/data a little bit separate so it will give a good documentation.

I made some quick calculations regarding carburation diameter and intake diameter (not the valve diameter but the valve seat diameter)
Becouse my first setup is a 15/15 i start from there.

A 15mm intake valve setup, has roughly a 13mm valve seat diameter
So in big lines. (without calculations off the camshaft lift and timing)

Valve seat 13mm = 132mm2
valve glider 7mm = 38mm2

Roughly 132-38=94mm2

13mm=94mm2
14mm=118mm2
15mm=138mm2
16mm=162mm2
17mm=188mm2
18mm=216mm2
19mm=245mm2

9mm carb = 63mm2
12mm carb = 113mm2
14mm carb = 153mm2
15mm carb = 176mm2
16mm carb = 200mm2
18mm carb = 254mm2

In big lines I would say:
A 9mm carb can always be used as the surface is smaller than the smallest valve setup (63mm2 vs 94mm2)
A 12mm carb can be used from a (15mm valve seat diameter) = 16mm valve (Don't know for sure just for reference)
A 14mm carb can be used from a (16mm valve seat diameter) = 17mm valve
A 15mm carb can be used from a (17mm valve seat diameter) = 18mm valve
A 16mm carb can be used from a (18mm valve seat diameter) = 19mm valve
A 18mm carb can be used from a (19mm valve seat diameter) = 20mm valve

In big lines testing a 12mm carb on a 15mm valve setup won't do much as the valve seat surface is already smaller than the carb surface.
Is my logical relative correct, or totally wrong?

Kind regards
Louis
